As you can imagine, this book is extremely controversial for both religious and non-religious communities. Kazantzakis presents a much more human interpretation of Jesus Christ’s character by making him more susceptible to human emotions and physical desires. This novelization of Jesus’ life may both enrage and enlighten readers from all faiths and backgrounds, but it is an important and reverent introspection into one of the most significant lives in human history.
